My Ride K12

All parents now have access to a mobile app, My Ride k-12, available for free on Android or iPhone, to see their child’s transportation information. Information includes the route number, stop time, and stop location. To register, download My Ride K-12 from the Google Play or Apple App Store, search for Troy R-III, and register your children with their name, birth date, and student identification number. Student identification numbers can be found by logging into Campus Parent, selecting your child, and viewing the number to the right of their photo.

Starting in December, we will be piloting the cards to scan on and off the bus at William Cappel, Claude Brown, and Main Street elementary schools, adding a layer of safety and security.

Scanning on and off the bus has several advantages, including:

  • Accurate tracking of the number of students on the bus.
  • Accurate tracking of where the students scanned on and off the bus.
  • Ability to promptly provide information to parent inquiries.
  • Bus drivers will have greater accuracy in ensuring students load/unload at their proper bus stops.
  • Students will board the bus and scan their ID with the card reader (a square object with a light) at the top of the stairs.  This will register the scan and the student’s name, grade and picture will populate on the driver’s tablet.  If the student is eligible and boarded the correct bus at the correct stop, the student’s information will turn green on the tablet.

If the student is bus-eligible but boarded the incorrect bus or loaded or unloaded at the incorrect stop, the student information will turn red.  The tablet will show a red scan with an “X” if the student is not bus-eligible.  All information is captured and transmitted back to the Transportation Department in near real-time via cellular service.

  • If your child has scanned on or off a bus, parents can access this information through the My Ride K-12 app.

  • Parents should make every effort to help students maintain their student IDs.  If their ID is not present, the student must provide their first and last name to the bus driver so the driver can manually scan them on the bus.  The same procedure will be followed in the afternoon if a student does not have their student ID

  • Students will not be tracked using the student ID.  The cards themselves do not have GPS in them.  While the student ID has a passive radio frequency identification (RFID) chip.  The only place where an RFID reader will be used is on the school bus.

As students get on or off the bus, the RFID will be read by the reader.  It will log the time and location a student got on or off the bus.  This measure has been put in place to increase the safety of students, particularly younger students, who may get on the wrong bus or off the bus at the wrong stop.

The card simply sends data to the transportation department when the student scans on or off the bus.  The scan helps Lincoln County R-III School District facilitate a more efficient student ridership count and attendance process.  This, in turn, provides safety layers to help the District and parents know when and where students scanned on and off the school bus.

  • The card has the District logo, student’s name, and photo.

  • All cards will be provided by the transportation department.

For newly enrolled students, a picture and the student ID number will be needed to create the ID card.

For existing students, the school can call the transportation department and let us know the student’s name to receive a replacement card.

The initial card is free.  Replacing a card costs $5.00.

  • In My Ride K12, the district is listed as Troy R-III, NOT Lincoln County R-III.
